Foundation I for Dogs

This class is like the Foundation I class listed on my “Private class” page but in a group classroom setting.  Group classes are an opportunity to expose your dog to a new environment with unfamiliar people and dogs.  My classes have no expectations or pressure to interact with anyone else. 

There’s always a little unruliness on the leash the first few sessions – and there’s always a barker!  By Session 3, the dogs are much better at tuning out the other teams and focusing on working with their person. 

Students are encouraged to ask questions and talk about their dogs.  We all have something to contribute to the “canine conversation” and it’s a great learning experience for everyone.

This course is offered several times throughout the year.  Scheduling of which varies based on classroom availability.  The group class starting 16 April 2024 is full.

Foundation I for Puppies

This short course is designed to educate pet parents on techniques to help their young puppies become familiar with the many sensory experiences their puppies will have throughout their lives. 

The focus is not on learning the skills introduced in PuppySpeak or Foundation I but on puppy-specific issues.   Collar or harness and leash, potty, crate, and alone-time training are essential.   Learning what’s okay to bite or chew on & what’s not and that body handling – for grooming and vet visits – is something they can learn to enjoy.

The group class starting on 3 June 2024 is the first class for young puppies I have scheduled so far in 2024, and I’m looking forward to it.
